K.I. SAMEN, THE SCORES FROM YOUR BARNS

It's amazing to see that K.I. SAMEN bulls do what we promise in practice: Perform.

The Dutch average as fallen and is now 25% at 60 months. There are naturally multiple reasons to explain this drop, but it is strange that -on paper - the average bull breeds cows that produce a year longer than five years ago. Based on the results in practice, this seems very unlikely.

The survival scores indicate the percentage of animals still present on a farm so many months after the first calving. This means that the last column under 60 months shows the percentage of cows still lactating on a farm five years after giving birth to their first calf. This is independent to the age at which the cow calved for the first time and concerns the fact that the cow has been able to lactate for five years.

So what does this mean? The average bull still has 25% of all the cows that have calved on the farm five years after the first calving. This converts to a quarter of all average daughters. MAIK daughters continue to produce for much longer than the average and 41% score no less than 16% higher than the national average.

A notable newcomer is SUPERSHOT. This Cogent bull has very high scores even though he breeds cows with larger than average stature. However, he scores very well on fertility especially given the enormous urge to produce milk shown by his daughters. In addition to their above average stature, they also have good chest width, and these cows seem to be performing well at the moment. We will still have to wait of course to see if Supershot can maintain this great score.

In the red-and-white segment, TIMELESS Pp has retained his position and chalked up a good score with 43 daughters still alive five years after calving. Unfortunately, no data was available for the young red-and-white bulls at 24 months because 12 months is too early to make any worthwhile statements. Hopefully this data will be available in a year's time.

We are pleased to share the results achieved by our bulls in practice and to give you some practical information about what you can expect to see in your dairy parlour!
