Apina Movistar (Nova Star x Solero x O-Man) is a bull that brings width and power. He has clearly inherited these frame traits from his maternal line. Both his dam Massia 246 and grand dam Massia 172 offer lots of balance and both realised enormous production with ease. In addition, they offer an alternative bloodline for the red-and-white population through their sires Solero and O-Man.
Movistar’s sire Nova Star offers a very different build but is nevertheless a true all-round bull. He partners a great production index with good scores for conformation. Nova Star speciality is injecting a huge boost to udders. The same applies to udder health, while for fertility and maternal ease of calving he scores around average.
The Massia family, Movistar's maternal line, is an established name in the red-and-white segment. This line has had many chances and achieved real success for the first time with bulls Curtis and Kairo. Their dam, the excellent ranked Massia 21, was of an exceptional calibre for both conformation and production. Via the full sister of Curtis/Kairo she is the great great grand dam of Movistar. Another exceptional cow, and mainly in the production stakes, is Movistar’s grand dam Massia 172. As befits a true O-Man daughter, she offers a robust conformation and is certainly no stranger to good production (noting an average lactation value of 118 over four lactations). A quality she passes on, as evidenced by the production figures of, for instance, her 87-point daughter by Jerudo, Massia 215 (an average lactation value of 113 in four records). But there is someone who can trump that - in this case Movistar’s dam Massia 246. This daughter of outcross bull Solero warrants 87 points for conformation, but over two lactations realised an average lactation value of 129.
