Bossink Red Max (Curtis x Jotan x Taco) is a quite true to type Red Holstein bull with good legs. His pedigree contains some noteworthy, high ranking conformation scores with his dam Gerda 47 as the jewel in the crown. But Red Max has a whole lot more to his name. For instance, he has the A2A2 beta casein variant and carries the aAa-code 165.
Red Max is the result of a fine corrective mating strategy. Many of the frame traits of his sire Curtis can be found in Red Max's build. Curtis breeds cows with a perfect combination of dairy type and balance. His daughters also have great legs and very good udders. To complete the picture, they have super production, including good protein contents, matched with an above average milking speed and a good somatic cell count.
Jotan, the maternal grand sire of Red Max, has a clearly different inheritance pattern. Combined with the Gerda line owned by Gerrit van de Kolk from Wierden, Jotan has delivered some fantastic work. No fewer than two excellent Gerdas were sired by Jotan. The matriarch in this line is Gerda 19, a Beverlake Nick daughter out of a Vario out of a Logic. Via two different branches of the family tree, Gerda 19 is the great grand dam of Jotan daughter Gerda 46 (EX 90) and the great great grand dam of Gerda 47 (EX 92). Both of these Jotan daughters pass on their wonderful conformation to the following generation. For example, Gerda 46 has a productive daughter by Leonidas (Gerda 64) who already noted 88 points as a heifer. And Gerda 47 has a daughter by Curtis who also rated noted 88 points as a heifer. This full sister of Red Max (Gerda 64) was crowned all-round champion at the Agrifair in Wierden and champion young cow at the After Summer Show in Vriezenveen. The dam of Red Max - Gerda 47 - was also once awarded the title of all-round champion at the After Summer Show in Vriezenveen. She also came third (honourable mention) at the NRM in 2017.
