To ensure sufficient diversity in the bloodlines in its portfolio, K.I. SAMEN always attempts to introduce a wide choice in pedigrees when acquiring new bulls. A bull that perfectly reflects this philosophy is ‘t Lievehof Elano (Edelmut x Lawn Boy x Cadon), who was bred in Belgium. Elano also offers the heterozygote polled gene (50% of his descendants will be born polled) and the A2A2 variant for beta casein.
Elano’s sire Edelmut (Ellmau x Sterngold), with his 7% score for kinship, certainly offers a new impulse by carrying a less common pedigree. He partners great production with very good, all-round conformation. Notable aspects of his profile for conformation include super udders (compact and firmly attached) and the slightly curved leg position (viewed form the side).
In Elano's maternal line - that excels in components - we come across cows including Mina 27 who ranks excellent. In her time, this Johan daughter was a name of note in MRIJ breeding circles and goes back nine generations in Elano’s pedigree. Her daughter by ED Thor, Mina 34, was a full sister of the former breeding bull Toppop. A generation back leads us to Mina 58, dam of animals including breeding bull Montreal. Via daughters of Blackstar and Jubilant, the trail takes us to Rina (VG 87). This daughter of Koerier 104-dochter is great great granddam of Elano. Her Yava daughter (rated 86) is the dam of what is most probably the best cow in this line: Cadon daughter Vina. Scoring 87 points, this granddam of Elano has produced a series of super performers on the farm. A good example is Zizi (VG 88), a daughter by the farm's own herd bull Vic (check). Her granddaughters include Fleur, sired by Burnstijn, and scoring 88 points. Another daughter out of Vina by Lichtblick is Candy, who in turn is dam of Tumult daughter Geertrui (VG 88). Other offspring of Vina include a wonderful daughter by Thunder van de Wilgr (VG 88) and, of course, a daughter by Lawn Boy Eefje (VG 88, the dam of Elano).
