With today’s breeding mainly based on speed (young sire x young sire-daughter) Batenburg Arrow (Mavid x Roppa x O-Man) has bulls in his pedigree who could be referred to as ‘old hands’ at this. Namely, Arrow’s sire, the grand-sire and great-grand-sire all of whom are at least 10 years old and therefore carry with them very reliable inheritance figures. When combined with a very successful maternal line (such as the Ginster’s) this is what K.I. SAMEN really likes to see in breeding .
Arrow’s sire, the German Masco son Mavid, has proven bull daughters milking worldwide. Mavid is also an ideal bull for the increasingly larger size farms. His daughters are excellent free stall cows, not too big and equipped with fine udders and good feet & legs (with a slightly crocked stance from the side view). This easy, calving bull also scores above average for milking speed and udder health (cell count) and his daughters are milking. Mavid is above all a percentage bull in terms of production with a fat plus for protein.
In the maternal line of Arrow (the Ginsters) we can see an enormous capacity for milk production. This branch originating in Germany (brood cow Goldlack EX90 was bought as a calf), has seen 8 generations of cows so far, all with more than 50,000 kg milk production. More A.I bulls have also come from this line, including the bulls Aldo and Jorik. The most well-known cow from this line is without a doubt Ginster 2545, the excellent grand-dam of Arrow. Several of her daughters have received the honor of being called bull dams. Among them are Roppa daughter Ginster 2932 (VG 89 and dam of Arrow), Bertil daughter Ginster 2925 (EX90) and Fidelity daughter Ginster 2047 (VG89 and the dam of Geronimo rf). Ginster 2047 is the full sister to the A.I. bull Stellando. Stellando tends to translates the qualities of the Ginster family quite perfectly: high production with a sound conformation.
